We at Stonebrook understand that many people enjoy working out in group sessions more than by themselves. There is something to be said about making new friends and exercising in a supportive, fast-paced environment. As a result, we have two fitness instructors at Stonebrook who lead varied fitness classes throughout the week. Check out our Schedule of Classes! |

Fitness Class Descriptions Mat Pilates – Pilates is a fantastic core strengthening and flexibility class that has benefits that extend into other aspects of life. This class is held in the Upstairs Programming Room. Linda Challinor hosts this class on Mondays and Tuesdays, Greg Brondos instructs on Thursdays. Total Body Workout – This class uses sliding disks, body bars, and exercise balls to strengthen your core muscles. This innovative class is non-impact and uses your own strength and abilities to shape your body. Lori Riddle teaches Total Body on Thursdays at 9:30 am in the Barn. Indoor Cycling – Learn how to maximize your time and be efficient while on the indoor bike, be it for weight loss or cardio endurance. Class is held in the old Pilates Studio adjacent to the Barn (enter through outside door). Interval Training – Get the ultimate whole body workout in this 60-minute class! This class alternates cardio intervals using bench, high low aerobics and conditioning drills with body sculpting. Class concludes with abdominal work. Hosted by Julie Hendren in the Barn. BOSU – BOSU is a unique training device that integrates core training, functional sports training, and balance training. This class will include light cardio and the use of light weights and body bars. Class led by Lori Riddle in the Barn. Sculpt and Tone – A total body workout for all fitness levels targeting major muscle groups by utilizing dumbbells, elastic tubing and stability balls. This is not a dance or aerobic cardio class. This emphasizes on strengthening and toning legs and upper body as well as core stability and balance. The perfect adjunct to your own cardio workout! Hosted by Adele McMahon in the Upstairs Programming Room. Senior Stretch – Karen Hillyard, one of Stonebrook’s personal trainers hosts this weekly class for our senior members. Stretch-based exercises are emphasized while a social element is added to the class. Class is held in the Barn. Senior Exercise – This class is designed for active older adults. It is a combination of cardio interval training and muscular endurance. Routines may include exercise with resistance bands, balance balls and free weights. This class is more rigorous than Senior Stretch, but the two classes compliment each other for a combination of functional movement, muscle endurance and cardio fitness. Led by Karen Hillyard in the Barn. Senior Strength – This class is designed for older adults interested in reaping the benefits of strength training. It is an introductory class with routines modified to individual needs and abilities. Form and safety are stressed with every exercise. All major muscle groups are targeted with light weights or resistance bands. Exercises can be done standing up or sting down. Because of the introductory nature of the class, attendance will be capped at eight. This is also led by Karen Hillyard and is held in the Barn. Step Aerobics – High energy aerobics utilizing the step. This class includes a warm-up and cool down as well and abdominal work. Some step experience is recommended. Instructors are available to go over basic steps prior to class. (Call in advance to meet with instructor). Julie Hendren teaches on Mondays at 9:30 a.m., and Adele McMahon teaches on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., class takes place in the Barn. Yoga – Chris Quasebarth continues his evening yoga classes. You must commit to a 6-week series of classes as the moves become more advanced later in the session. Class takes place in the Barn.
